I am re-purposing some COVID recordings for MCC. This is part 1 of 4. I used this edition of the New Atlantis.

My understanding was greatly benefited by the interpretive essay in the edition mentioned above, as well as by the comments in this book and this book.

This is an introductory lecture that sticks close to the text. I genuinely welcome any critical feedback or interpretive disagreements.
