Our Aims

The founding of Montana Classical College is a deed intended to support noble action, the understanding of nature, and the protection of the nation state which makes both of these high human activities possible.

The animating vision of Montana Classical College comes from Nietzsche’s untimely meditation on history: books will be chosen on “whose title page should be inscribed ‘A Fighter Against His Time.’ Satisfy your souls on Plutarch and dare to believe in yourselves when you believe in his heroes. A hundred such men educated against the modern fashion, that is, men who have ripened and are used to the heroic, could now silence forever the whole noisy pseudo-education of our time.” (UDHL #6)

Reading and thinking, however good, are not enough. Students at MCC will be physically fit and will learn a variety of skills that will make them capable leaders and producers of culture. They will be thoughtful men of action.

The institutions that furnish our elites with their credentials are increasingly being called into question. As that happens, it is time to get in on the ground floor of a place that will always keep your body and soul oriented toward the peaks of human excellence.

We are beginning as an online school but we are setting plans in motion to make this a living and breathing, brick and mortar institution. We welcome and invite courageous collaborators who might help us in our quest to make this vision a reality.

Why You Must Subscribe

Subscribe so that you get full access to our outstanding online courses, essays, reviews, and podcasts. Much of our content, especially our opening salvo, will be free for all. However, each course will include some paywalled sessions, and you won’t be able to earn MCC credits or course completion certificates without a paid subscription.

We are investing all subscription money back into the school—every dollar of support gets us closer to planting a shovel in the ground, so that we can build something beautiful together.

Come join us.
